Saudi Arabia has revised its decision to reopen ports from March 31, and in a new move, the ministry has extended the travel ban to May 17, 2021.

According to media reports, Saudi’s Ministry of Interior had earlier announced that it will be reopening its land, sea and air ports for travel but now it has banned the travel for its citizens and would open its ports only after May 17
While talking about the move, the spokesperson from the Interior Ministry said, “Given the importance of reaching high levels of community immunity in the Kingdom before travel is permitted, in light of a possible second wave of the pandemic in many countries, in the interest of public health in the Kingdom and to maintain low infection rates.”
The spokesperson further added that the travel suspension for citizens would be lifted and all ports – sea, land and air will completely open from 1 am on May 17.
Meanwhile, fresh cases in Riyadh, Eastern Province, Makkah, Asir, Najran and Jazan. Saudi has reported two deaths from Covid-19 and 267 new infections.
A total of 6,368 patients have succumbed to the virus in the Kingdom so far.
